Dr. Mehdi Karimipour graduated from the University of Los Angeles, California in 2005 with a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Biology. As an undergraduate, he enjoyed playing table tennis as a member of UCLA’s varsity team and placed second at the NCTTA in 2004. Nominated for a Biochemistry Scholarship in 2004, Dr. Mehdi published an article on evidence-based dentistry that led to his subsequent interest in dental health.
After graduation, Dr. Mehdi attended Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in 2005, on a Merit scholarship. While at Tufts, he achieved awards in Clinical Achievement and Operative Dentistry Clinical Skills.
Upon receiving his DMD, Dr. Mehdi joined a three-year dental residency program at the University of Alabama and the VA Hospital at Birmingham, Alabama where he specialized in Prosthodontics. While in residency, he also earned a Master’s degree in Dental Science and provided dental services to help address the needs of children in underprivileged and underserved communities in rural areas.
After completing his specialization in Prosthodontics, Dr. Mehdi spent an additional year pursuing additional sub-specialty training in Maxillofacial Prosthodontics. This training taught him to expertly address the prosthetic and medical needs of patients losing mass and density in their facial structures through congenital, acquired, and/or developmental defects of the head and neck. Dr. Mehdi is also well-trained in methods used to treat the oral health of patients with cancer who are exposed to cancercidal doses of radiation or cytotoxic drugs.
After finishing his sub-specialty training, Dr. Mehdi and his wife returned to Boston, MA. Today, Dr. Mehdi volunteers as faculty at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine and teaches in the Department of Prosthodontics and Operative Dentistry. He also works part-time at the Veteran Affairs office as a prosthodontist. He is currently a member of:

In his free time, Dr. Mehdi enjoys hiking, bicycling, snowboarding, and snowshoeing. He also enjoys exploring the New England area with his wife and daughters.
